The Association

Aims

  • To conserve and develop the amenities of Leatherhead
  • To promote an active interest in the community and in local government
  • Foster and promote the development and enhancement of the local community for the benefit of the residents, whether directly or indirectly, and either alone or in association with other organisations having similar interests

History

The Leatherhead Society, after serving Leatherhead as the town's Civic Society and Residents' Association for many years, adopted the new title, "THE LEATHERHEAD RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION " at an Extraordinary General Meeting on Monday, 3rd September 2007. The Association remains non-political and membership is open all residents of Leatherhead.

The former Society was often consulted by the District and County Councils on matters affecting residents, and we expect the new Association to be similarly consulted by the District and County Councils. The Society did not support particular Councilors although it welcomed them to its meetings, and this will continue to be the case with the new Association.
